and wanted out. Marcus handed him over to
O Connor, who called in a few reinforcements.
Unfortunately he had already killed the little club
doctor, before I got to him. He claims that the little
man was trying to stop him. Give that asshole a
little of the right motivation, and he spills the
beans faster than you can ask the questions.
A soft whimper broke through their
conversation, reminding Gray what he had called
Law over for.
Where s Lucas?
Lawson looked around the room before
running to Marcus and speaking to him. Marcus
pulled out his phone, and after a few words,
snapped it shut. The pair walked back over.
Bo will be over in a minute with him. He
stayed back in the motel room, seizing all liquid
assets of this joint and freezing them. We had
Lucas stay with him so he d be safe. He insisted.
Marcus waggled his eyebrows as he nodded
toward Law.
Well, if I m right, we might have a little
problem.
Bo burst through the door, hot on the heels of
the far smaller Lucas, who barrelled through the
throng of people and into Owens s arms. Both of
the smaller men cried out as they clung to each
other.

What the hell? He s mine! Law growled as he
stomped toward them, a red look on his face as he
watched Owen wrap around Lucas. He started to
try to peel the pair apart, but stilled and took a
deep inhale. His red face instantly changed to
white as he fell to his knees and stared into
Owens s tear-filled eyes. A softly spoken, Mine
too? slipped from his lips as Owen timidly leant
closer and took a sniff. The little man gasped,
nodding rapidly, before hurtling his small frame
into Law s open arms.
Well, that is surprising. Marcus chuckled.
Yeah, Gray agreed, looks like that little
problem is solved, though.
Ryan whined and shoved his cold, wet nose
against Gray s hand. I haven t forgotten about
you, baby, he promised. As soon as this is all
sorted out, we re going to take a run in the woods
just out of town and finish what we started,
okay? Ryan nodded and yipped excitedly. Gray
rewarded him with a scratch behind his ear that
sent his mate rumbling happily deep within his
chest.
Davis cleared his throat and called everyone s
attention.
As you ve seen tonight, we all have a
problem one that needs more than my team and
me to overcome. We need to create a network of
havens, a place where those affected can receive

the help and sanctuary they desperately need. He
nodded toward the Deltas. This cannot be
allowed to continue.
He turned to Marcus. I ve been informed that
your men have frozen all assets from this place?
Bo piped up, I did it.
Good. We need you to appropriate those
funds and use them to create the first safe house
here. The council will arrange all paperwork so
that ownership of the building belongs to the
network.
He turned to the other Samhain guardians. I
need you to create a network, an extension of the
Preternatural Rescue Centre, and to train others to
join your ranks. Our numbers are small, but we
can grow. He was met with a round of nods and
smiles, and smiled back at them.
Let this be the first of many centres and as
you can see, we already have our hands full. These
Deltas need to be rehabilitated and given their
lives back, and if the looks I m getting from many
are anything to go by, I think we have our first
round of recruits amongst them.
Gray looked over at the huddled Deltas,
surprised to see eager nodding from quite a few.
Marcus stepped forward and offered his hand
to Davis, who gripped it firmly and shook it. I get
the impression that you lot are the ones
responsible for taking care of a certain bear

Davis nodded, with a huge grin.
In that case, I think we have a deal to make
and a lot of planning to do.

Epilogue
nly a few months had passed since Ryan had

had changed.
The Howling was not only a hive of positive
energy, a rehabilitation centre for abused Deltas, it
was much more. With the seized funds paying for
a complete re-build of the inside structures, it had
become a home and quite a few of the former
